Teacher Grace has a background in Art Education and has a wonderful way of facilitating all-things-creative into our outdoor learning environment. Of course the children have many ideas of their own, so she provides the space and support to help them realize their visions. This winter their creativity has taken the form of shelters for nature's creatures - both imagined and real. These adorable fairy houses were meticulously created on the rainiest of days to help our magical friends stay dry.
This week while the boys were snowshoeing, they discovered mouse tracks on the snow and wanted to provide a warm shelter for the little guys. First some pics of the snowshoeing adventure then of the tracks and the mouse house. Snowshoeing provided an excellent opportunity to talk about weight distribution as it applies to both snowshoes and boats and why early trappers found snowshoes so helpful.
